Tax Freedom Day 2024
This year, Thursday, June 13 is Tax Freedom Day in Canada, when the average family starts working for themselves and not government. Tax Freedom Day measures the total yearly tax burden imposed on Canadian families by federal, provincial and municipal governments. If you had to pay all your taxes up front, you would give government every dollar you earned from January 1 until Tax Freedom Day.
To calculate your own personal Tax Freedom Day and to learn more, visit www.fraserinstitute.org.

Why Net Zero by 2050 is highly unlikely

In the past 25 years since the Kyoto Protocol was signed, instead of reducing our fossil fuel use, global fossil fuel consumption has actually increased significantly. And fossil fuels still make up more than 80% of the global energy mix. Electric vehicle mandates will drive up the need for significantly more cobalt, nickle and graphite, and decarbonizing will also require extensive and sustain...

    I agree with all of that except CPP is not really a tax. That's approvable Axiom by simply stating that if you did not pay into CPP payments at retirement age and I would venture to say if you do quick math and add up all of the contributions you and your employer make through your lifetime and you live to the average age of about 86 I believe now and you start collecting at the age of 62 63/64 65 you will vastly exceed the amount of contributions. Mind you what you could have done with that money in equity is something to be debated to be sure. However it is not really a tax. It's more like a defined benefit contribution plan

    Large numbers of Homeless Australians are living in Tents in Parks. This has only occurred over the last 3 to 4 years, when Australia depended more on the US Economy. In the past, Australia traded with Asia - China used to be our largest Trading Partner. NOTHING to do with Austrian Economics - but WHO is to become the NEXT American ENEMY.

    Yet, somehow, people believe that if you divest the "authority" of a king or queen amongst a number of politicians - it is somehow different because "muh, democracy" or "No taxation without representation" and other such rot. The fact that I own my body and whatever my body is involved in producing, doesn't change when you call it "government", instead of "king".

      @@____blank____ Yes, because greedy capitalists won't show any sign of Welfare, so Government needs to implement progressive tax system , and the workers won't agree with cheap labor if Government doesn't provide social security. Very simple.

    • @____blank____
      @____blank____ 6 днів тому

      @@SB-tp2jv Very naive, but kind of you. First, capitalists (not all) under free market systems do much more philanthropy than in high-tax systems nowadays. Examples are two/three times more private medical beds a hundred years ago than today and many more privately-funded educational programs. Check Milton Friedman for reference. Second, good intentions don't always lead to good results. At least one-third of the money that goes through the welfare program does not go to the poor but into the hands of politicians, because they have their own interests. Check Thomas Sowell for ref. In socialist countries, for example where I come from, an even higher percentile of tax money is wasted to build empty roads and propaganda machines and government employees' retirement accounts. Poor people get nothing but higher-priced food. Solution for the poor? Less tax so more people are willing to start doing business. With more open opportunities, businesses compete for hire, therefore greedy capitalists have to use higher pay to retain employees. Also less money printing, so the food prices remain stable for the poor.

    In Norway (Where i was born, work and live) The middle and Lower class are the big losers. The government is extremely rich, and the government official enrich themselves personally with goods and favours trough government spending. Especially towards Europe, to gain better and more lucrative jobs/positions in the future. Just look at the incompetent Brundtland at WHO, Stoltenberg at NATO, Jagland at the Nobel Committee & CoE, Usually Labour and left leaning corrupted Politicians. (Not that any politicians are any good here)

    Absolute nonsense! Take it from a dane! In 1957 a danisk middleclass citizen had 1/5 of the wealth of his american fellow. In 2000 they were equal and since then danes have passed by americans. Free medical aid, free education, 5 weeks annual paid holiday, 1 year of maternal/pasternal leave for every child born. Very low unemployment rate and support for all poor people. Take that! Calling danish socialism a failure is a complete lie!

    This seems to be a highly selective portrayal of how the government and economy in Sweden work intended to push an agenda of higher taxes, privatization, and lower government spending. One thing they fail to portray is how Sweden's welfare state supports economic growth, stability, and prosperity for everyone.

    In Scandinavia it's 6 weeks paid holiday every year, maternity and paternity leave for 8 months, free schooling, free medical treatment, poverty aid and so on. 60% of all Danes live in their own house... Unlike in USA where the middleclass economical decline supported by GOP has only favored the 1% richest and Corporate America. So much for the famous White Supremacy! Get real!

    Definitely not just taxing from the middle class bet yeah the income brackets max out at about double the average salary. At the same time extending the brackets more is really not going to do much considering how few people make much more than that. The combined "middle class" makes thousands of times more money than a few billionaires

    Singapore is so obviously a better working democracy than the US. A character like trump, Gaetz, Boebert, Greene, Jordan, comer, Scot and lots of congressmen and governors would never be elected and in fact, could be in jail. Also, their intellect is appalling and too low to make laws for the nation or to govern others Likewise, justices like Thomas, Alito, even CJ Roberts would never have been appointed to the Supreme Court and a few of them could be in jail too.

The constant breaches of International laws and the complete lack of a functioning legal system??? Many, many tings from/about DK clearly not worth mentioning from the "simply so happy" place here - including the ongoing medical experiments on 100% healthy, well functioning people "for the fun of it" ???
